²⁵ For David had said, “The Lord, the God of Israel, has given rest to his people, and he dwells in Jerusalem forever, ²⁶ so the Levites will no longer need to carry the Dwelling and all the vessels and utensils for its service.”

²⁷ So according to the last directions given by David, the descendants of Levi twenty years old and older were counted.
